Faccio davvero tanto fatica a comprendere il politichese; la coalizione per me potrebbe tranquillamente essere una famiglia di koala e l’indulto un insulto con il raffreddore. E’ per questo che scrivo di arte, di libri oppure di viaggi e lascio commentare agli addetti ai lavori leggi, referendum e sexy gate vari ed eventuali. Per non parlare poi delle ultime elezioni targate USA e dell’intrattenimento politically incorrect di Donal Trump e Clinton signora. Se l’ex first lady non mi ha convinto, voto tre, figuriamoci Trump, che con quelle sue dichiarazioni su donne, musulmani e riscaldamento globale ha rasentato l’assurdo ed il ridicolo. E’ per questo motivo che in tutta questa storia ciò che mi sta più a cuore è l’orto di Michelle Obama. 1600 Pennsylvania Ave è l’indirizzo più famoso del mondo perché qui si trova un edificio bianco che ospita niente poco di meno che l’uomo più potente del mondo: lui, il presidente degli Stati Uniti d’America. Poco meno di 400 sono i chilometri che dividono New York, la città che non dorme mai, da Washington D.C., la capitale a stelle e strisce ed il mezzo più economico ed accessibile per coprire questa distanza è indubbiamente il bus. Megabus ha circa 20 partenze giornaliere con prezzi che oscillano dai 5 ai 20 dollari round trip; il viaggio dura mediamente quattro ore e mezzo a tratta e, con un sovrapprezzo di un solo dollaro, acquistando i ticket sul sito us.megabus.com è possibile riservarsi anche il posto migliore sul mezzo. Venghino signori venghino… Svegliarsi all’alba per prendere uno dei primi bus che partono dalla Grande mela e farlo soprattutto con entusiasmo è una Mission impossibile neanche Tom Cruise quando centra la finestra del palazzo di Dubai senza farsi nemmeno un graffio ma la bellezza degli edifici in stile neoclassico che contraddistinguono Washington ripagheranno di tutto il sacrificio della levataccia. Entrare alla White House è quasi impossibile per un cittadino non statunitense e qualche concreta possibilità esiste se si è in viaggio con una decina di persone; ma la trafila che va dalla richiesta che va fatta con sei mesi di anticipo dalla visita ad un membro del Congresso fino alla conferma da parte del congresso medesimo è davvero complicata e lunga (per maggiori informazioni è possibile contattare l’ambasciata italiana presente a Washington all’indirizzo e-mail c_affairs.washington@esteri.it). Per questo ci si accontenta di vedere solo la facciata che da sempre compare dietro l’inviato in collegamento con il Tg1. Il livello di sicurezza tutto intorno è chiaramente ai massimi livelli: cecchini e mitragliatrici spuntano un pò dappertutto e se solo ti fermi a frugare qualche minuto in più nella tua borsetta rischi qualche pena corporale, che però se c’ha gli addominali di Jamie Dornan, una stanza rossa e le fascette stringicavo, non tutte le pene vengono per nuocere. Non è certamente l’edificio più bello del mondo ed è molto meno galattico di quanto ci si aspetti; merito probabilmente dell’ottima regia cinematografica americana se nelle pellicole sembra così enorme ma incanta comunque per il potere e la storia che incarna. Nacque da un’idea di George Washington che morì durante il completamento del tetto; ebbe come primo inquilino il presidente Jefferson ed ogni nuovo presidente ha portato ed apportato il proprio tocco. Il più innovativo è senza dubbio l’orto ecologico della green ed eco friendly Michelle, ben visibile su un lato della casa e nato per sensibilizzare la lotta contro l’obesità infantile ed il junk food. Pomodori, zucchine, peperoni, spinaci ed insalate varie.. Speriamo solo che Melania Trump non rimpiazzi il tutto con dei meloni, i suoi magari…

The White house is not the most beautiful building of the world and it’s not so galactic how much you aspect; it seems so big probably for the excellent American film direction but it enchants for the power and the history it embodies.
